Social4Good Announces First Year Impact

Vienna, VA (July 28, 2020) - Social4Good is celebrating a year’s worth of giving and volunteering with an impact of $42,279 benefiting 12 nonprofits in the Northern Virginia community.

What began as a social experiment by longtime Vienna resident, Faith Boettger, is now a movement with 133 members and growing.  Engaged women have come together to support nonprofits they are passionate about, there is no formal structure and only a few simple rules: membership is open to all, members attend when they can, focus on local impact, no politics or religion and, just as importantly, no complaining.

The results include $13,333 in monetary donations, $28,946 in goods donated and countless volunteer hours to make each month’s nonprofit-focused event happen. ‘Twice a year, members propose projects to benefit local nonprofits, vote and schedule monthly events that combine social for our members with good for our community.  In recent months, and as we move into our second year, the social aspect may become virtual, but our members remain committed to addressing critical needs in our community,’ said Faith Boettger.

Projects are as varied as the women themselves from supporting homeless adults and youth to providing care packages to cancer patients and Alzheimer’s care givers, and hosting drives for food packs, diapers and sanitary products.  Every month brings new opportunities to get involved.  The benefit for the nonprofits served goes beyond the dollars and goods collected, the impact is exponential.

Nicole Morris, Women Giving Back Executive Director, said ‘In October, Social4Good hosted a very successful clothing and handbag drive for WGB.  This drive introduced us to a new community that continues to donate and volunteer.  When the pandemic hit, Social4Good was quick to mobilize members to support critical and basic needs by planning drives for WGB and our partner organizations, BRAWS and Fairfax Diapers.’

Launched in August 2019, Social4Good brings together engaged women who want to meet new people and support the organizations that make our community strong through the power of collective philanthropy. Monthly events support local philanthropies through monetary, in-kind or volunteer support.
