Social4Good Brought Warmth to Local Families For the Holidays!

"CHO has about 110 registered families to serve, along with some older residents we support in the Vienna/Oakton/Dunn Loring area. Having the support of Social4Good is amazing, both in the gift cards and stunning array of coats you donated, but also the cheerful energy you brought to help us prepare the Store and assist families while they shopped. You really lifted our spirits and made a difference for our clients."  Heather Glynn, CHO Board Vice Chair

S4G Volunteers - Generous with Their Time, Talent & Treasure Over the Holidays

For the first time in years, 100+ local families with more than 190 children had the opportunity to shop in-person at Committee for Helping Others' (CHO) December 10th Holiday Store where they were able to select toys, coats, clothing and gifts for their families.

S4G executed a highly successful project to stock CHO's Holiday Store with 400+ new or like-new, warm, clean, washable, winter jackets for infants through adults.  In addition, members provided more than 100 $25 gift cards to Walmart for teens who will appreciate the opportunity to select something for themselves and support local families' holiday celebrations and needs throught the year.

At December's Social & Sort, members sorted the 400+ coats into sizes that would help Holiday Store volunteers easily match shoppers to the coats they need for their families this winter. After coats were sorted, Heather Glynn and Carolyn Mysel provided an overview of CHO's mission and the population of hard working families CHO supports through their programs. On Friday, volunteers set up the coat room at the Holiday Store at Vienna Presbytarian Church and Saturday's volunteers personally helped clients shop for gifts for their families.
"The best part of the day was listening to parents tell me about their kids as they picked out toys.  Being a Holiday Store escort was the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit." Pam S., S4G Volunteer
