Social4Good Provides Children at Shelter HouseSomething New to Call Their Own
Kicking off Social4Good's second year, Team August worked with Shelter House to identify critical needs for their clients. As a result, more than 50 generous members:
- Sponsored 43 Welcome Bags for children entering Shelter House shelters so that they would have something new to call their own,
- Provided 30 grocery gift cards for food insecure families, and
- Secured 83 masks from the Million Mask Challenge
Shelter House operates three shelters: Artemis House, Katherine K. Hanley Family Shelter, and Patrick Henry Family Shelter. Recently, Shelter House partnered with Fairfax County to open the first COVID-19 Relief Isolation & Quarantine Shelter (IQ shelter), a 200-bed facility, to shelter those experiencing homelessness that are in high-risk categories and those who are showing symptoms of the virus. This site serves those recovering from active COVID-19, those who are both homeless and at high risk of complications or death from the virus, and those displaced from shelter facilities (as other shelters are currently operating at 50% capacity due to social distancing).
- Team August - Beth Tecala, Leslie Pennington, Pam Yanni, Patty Kehoe, Tricey Felter who exceeded their goals and hosted a fabulous socially-distanced event at Wolf Trap
Special thanks to:
