On January 15th, Social4Good (S4G) members met to learn about Fairfax County's Hypothermia Prevention Program and collected donations for Vienna Presbyterian Church' (VPC) two week Hypothermia Center.
To help ensure no one has to sleep outside during the winter months, a collaborative effort by the county, nonprofits and faith communities created the Hypothermia Prevention Program more than a decade ago. Last winter (December 2018 through March 2019), the program provided almost 1,200 people experiencing homelessness in our county with a warm, safe place to sleep and a healthy meal. For more information on the program or to learn how you can help, click here.
Each day, VPC provides their guests with items that they can take as they leave for the day to help them while they are on the streets. S4G members generously donated items from VPC's wish list including toiletries, clothing, coats, shoes, suitcases, and more!
Special thanks to the S4G team who hosted and coordinated this event - Anne Motz, Kelly Miller, Kerry Walton, and Sarah Shamlal
